Frequently Asked Questions 

1. Who can attend the Weekend Club?

Our sessions are open to children aged 4–11 years. We group children by age (4–5, 6–7, 8–9, 10–11) so activities are tailored to their level of development.

2. What qualifications do staff have?

All staff at Little Luminaries:

  • Hold an enhanced DBS check

  • Are trained in Paediatric First Aid

  • Have completed safeguarding and child protection training

  • Meet or exceed Ofsted requirements, including having a qualified Level 3 childcare practitioner on-site at all times

Your child will always be in safe, professional hands.

3. What does the cost include?

The session fee covers:

  • All activities (STEM, sports, cooking, arts, debates, projects)

  • Take-home crafts or experiments

  • Certificates and rewards

  • Caring supervision in a safe environment


Meals and snacks are optional add-ons:

  • Breakfast: £3 (for morning and full-day sessions)

  • Lunch: £5 (for full-day sessions)

  • Afternoon snack: £3
     

4. What should my child bring?
 

  • A refillable water bottle

  • Comfortable clothing suitable for sports and messy play

  • Indoor shoes or trainers

  • Packed lunch if not purchasing ours

  • Any personal medical items (e.g., inhaler, EpiPen) clearly labelled


5. How do you handle allergies and medical needs?

When registering, parents complete a medical needs and allergy form. Staff are trained to follow individual care plans, and we take allergies very seriously. All food prepared or provided is labelled and handled with strict allergy controls.

6. How do drop-off and pick-up work?
 

  • Drop-off: Parents/carers sign children in with staff at the front desk.

  • Pick-up: Only authorised adults listed on your registration form can collect your child. ID may be required for safety.

  • Late collection: After a 5-minute grace period, we charge a late fee of £5 for every 5 minutes to cover staffing costs.


7. What if I need to cancel a booking?

Cancellations made 48 hours before the session will receive full credit towards another date. Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice are non-refundable, as staffing and resources will have already been arranged.

8. What kind of activities do you run?

Our activities change every week to match our monthly themes, but children can expect:

  • STEM experiments and engineering challenges

  • Arts, crafts, and creative design

  • Sports and team games

  • Cooking and life skills workshops

  • Language learning and debates

  • Emotional check-ins and wellbeing activities

  • Monthly Show & Tell Showcase for families
     

9. How are children grouped?

Children are grouped by age:

  • 4–5 years

  • 6–7 years

  • 8–9 years

  • 10–11 years

This ensures they’re with peers of similar ability while still being part of the larger club community.

10. Is the club Ofsted-registered?

Yes, Little Luminaries Weekend Club is Ofsted-registered and complies with all UK childcare regulations. Our policies and procedures cover safeguarding, health & safety, fire evacuation, medication, and more.
